Half way between Munich (130 km away) and the Alps, the world-wide known castle Neuschwanstein in the lovely setting of Hohenschwangau awaits its visitors. This castle, built by King Ludwig II. in the true style of the ancient German knight's castles, is the most famous attraction of Bavaria and a "must" on every visit to Europe and especially to Germany.

This fairytale castle is open for guided tours on nearly every day. The balcony of the throne-hall grants a splendid view over the Bavarian Alps. From the Marien-Bridge behind the castle the visitor looks down into the Poellat gorge with a waterfall about 149 ft. Deep. In times of clear sky you can see up to Munich and to the Zugspitze from here. The castle Hohenschwangau is situated just opposite Neuschwanstein. It was home to the parents of King Ludwig II. and is still owned by the Bavarian royal family.

The Schlosshotel Lisl looks back on many, many years of experience with groups and individual travellers and is well prepared to take care of the various requirements. There are selected menus and a special offer of different warm dishes and drinks.
As a special service, the hotel that lies directly at the beginning of the road to Neuschwanstein provides uphill transportation to the castle by minibus. The bus stop is right in front of the hotel. Walking straight up to the castle takes about 30 minutes. Another possibility to reach Neuschwanstein - as well as Hohenschwangau - is a ride in a horse carriage.
Tickets for the minibus and group-entrance-tickets for Neuschwanstein can be collected at the reception of Schlosshotel Lisl, which shortens the waiting time for the guided tour. The Schlosshotel Lisl and Jägerhaus provides individually styled programs for groups and individual travellers, as e.g. a photo-shooting on the lake Alpsee from where both castles are seen in a panoramic view (on condition of nice weather), a visit to the golf academy of Prince of Thurn & Taxis or an evening at the royal hinting lodge of King Ludwig II. "Bleckenau" with a special hunter's meal.
Next to the hotel the "Galeria Lisl", opened in July 1996, invites guests to a luxury shopping tour on 500 m². The Galeria welcomes visitors with noble equipment. The customer finds Nymphenburg porcelain, Swarowsky silver crystal, German wine and Bavarian fashion as well as products by those well known names as Joop, Chanel, Dior, Ferragamo, Yves Saint Laurent and Hermes. The service is completed by tax-free shopping and parcel-service.
All year long there are concerts and various events in Schwangau.
The highlights each year are the classical concerts in the castle Neuschwanstein at the end of September. For one week international artists present classical music with a great orchestra.
Hohenschwangau is worth a visit at every time of the year and the guests will remember their stay for a lifetime.
