| |
The "Caves of Pedro Antonio de Alarcon" is a touristic complex of 20 caves, which gives the traveller the unique opportunity to stay in an hitoric lodge of the XI century, with all facilities of modern life but almost keeping the original style. It is easy to arrive by train, at 1,5 km only from the historic-centre of Guadix, and inside a complex of 3.000 caves with 5.000 inhabitants, the biggest in all Europe. It is a private complex of 18 caves, which gives the unique oportunity to the traveller to stay in a historical lodgement with all the day life facilities and high quality service, keeping all its first charm.
The caves originate in Medieval time, with the early human "ganderos". One of the best qualities of the caves is their constant temperature of 19C degrees (warm in winter and cool in summer).

The caves have been transformed from pre-historic quarters into modern living facilities. They are cared into the clay hillside and once opened a vertical wall is constructed in order to continue digging on the inside, to make as many rooms as the family require, depending on the size of the hill. Inside the whitewashed caves, the temperature is at 19C degrees. The white chimeneys visible on the hillsides indicates the presence of a fireplace in the cave. The complex have also an outdoor swimming-pool and a restaurant where you will can taste the Grenadian traditional gastronomy.
