Originally a 13th century house-fortress and once owned by King Ferdinand III, this fabulous building was later converted into a Renaissance hacienda and has recently been declared a national monument. It is a truly wonderful place to stay; everywhere you look brings pleasure to the senses: a charming courtyard of white and ochre walls adorned with plants of red and green hues leads you into the sumptuously decorated reception rooms where you find antique furniture, works of art, tapestries, shelves of books and a great old fire-place.

Take a walk around the lovely gardens of palm trees, bougainvillaea and scented jasmine, complete with a gorgeous and enticing pool, and revel in the silence and tranquility. If you’re feeling active, Seville is just 12km away with its wealth of historic buildings and museums; in the surrounding countryside, walk, play golf, ride a horse, go para-gliding or try your hand at clay-pigeon shooting. Then head home for some high-quality hearty home-cooked food. All in all, a wonderful combination of historic and natural beauty.
